Central Florida Child Health Program Inc. (CFCHP) was established as a non-profit in 1991 in a response to Florida Legislature recognizing the need to develop a mechanism whereby all Florida citizens could access basic primary health care.

To fill this need for primary care services, CFCHP began a partnership with the Department of Health/Children’s Medical Services (CMS) in 1992, providing comprehensive (Medical Home) primary care services to those in the under-served pediatric population in Orange, Osceola, and Seminole Counties who were experiencing medical, social, and economic issues.

The Medical Home (primary care) program provided care coordination services to children with special health care needs; touching the lives of more than 6,000 low-income, high-risk children annually by providing each one with a Medical Home that promoted an accessible, comprehensive, family centered, culturally competent, community based, coordinated system of care. Through a collaborative approach, CFCHP created linkages for families to obtain secondary and tertiary services ensuring wrap-around services.

The Medical Foster Care program in Brevard County was added to CFCHP’s programs in 2004. This was a collaborative effort between the Florida Department of Children and Families, the Florida Department of Health, and the Agency for Health Care Administration. The Medical Foster Care program was designed to assist the Community Based Care agencies and Foster Care Licensing entities to safely meet the needs of foster children determined eligible for medical foster care.

Currently, CFCHP operates the HIPPY (Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters) Program serving Orange and Brevard County. CFCHP is serving over 60 children and their families, providing home-based early childhood educational services. Please refer to the Programs Link for more information about this amazing program.

CFCHP will continue to ensure excellence in the delivery of services to children and families. CFCHP’s goal is to continue developing programs and services that support children and families to reach their goals of improved physical, mental, and emotional health. By establishing systems of care that empower families and their children, they will become the leaders of tomorrow.
